A Northern Light Chapter 35 Summary

Tommy Hubbard rushed to Mattie at the Glenmore to tell her that all of her family was badly ill and the cows were bellowing. John Denio was just getting back and he took Tommy and Mattie in the buckboard to her home. A woman at the Lakeview had fever and chills, and had given it to Pa. The cows were bellowing that no one had milked them, and they could get an infection. Royal was right behing Mattie, and helped with the cows with John while Mattie went inside and tended to her family. Pa had been sick for 2 days. Beth had messed herself twice, and Lou was covered in puke stains. Abby was sick but was the strongest one. Mattie Made some Yarrow tea to help with the fever and the cough. She bathed everyone and covered them up with blanket to try and make them sweat. Pa said that the reason Lawson left was because he 'killed' their mother because he should've moved and worked at the saw mill. Then the cows got out and they couldn't afford to lose any corn, so Mattie went to help Tommy get them back. When she was tending to her sisters, Royal came up and said that one of the cows, Daisy, was really sick, and John was going to shoot her, and he did.
