A Northern Light Chapter 29 Summary

This chapter takes place in the flashback.

Pleasant, their new mule died. And Pa needed money for a new one, but he didn't have it. So he called the Glenmore and asked if there were any open jobs left for Mattie, and there were. On the way to the Glenmore, Pa warned Mattie to be cautious and told her if she wanted to come home then she would just have to send word and Royal or him would pick her up. She had written to the Dean of Barnard stating that she would not be coming, for she had other comittments. The new mule was Licorice. MAttie negotiated that she would get 2 of the $4 a week and the other $2 would go to pa so he could pay for Licorice. He dropped her off and left.
