Mattie can't help helself, she can't stop reading the letters. She is looking for name clarification, and decides to look in the 3 letters Chester wrote to Grace. He can't leave Cortland because his friends are taking a trip to the lake. Grace is distressed because there are other girls that he wants more than her, but they came here to elope, RIGHT? WRONG!
