A Northern Light Chapter 22 Summary

This chapter thakes place in the flashback.

As Lou is teasing Mattie about being sweet on Royal Loomis, Mrs. Wilcox pulls up in her car and invites them over to eat. When they get there we learn that she is renting out a huge house with many bedrooms and it is just her. I immediately think of the Hubbards and how they could use alll of those bedrooms. They then go into the library with hundreds of books. Mattie states her mind about how few authors tell the truth but what the reader wants to hear. Why would she care about someone in France if that French person didn't care about Eagle Bay? Mrs. Wilcox tells her that she must make them care, and never apologize for her thoughts. Mrs. Wilcox asks Mattie to organize all of her books and she would pay her $1 each time, and could borrow anything she wanted. Mattie thought of Royal and how she didn't want to be surrounded with other people's stories, but then she ultimately said yes.
