A Northern Light Chapter 12 Summary

This is in the flashback.

Mattie is over at Aunt Josie's dusting and cleaning her house every Wednesday just like her mom had asked. Aunt Josie loves gossip. Pa and Aunt Josie do not particularly get along, she thought that Mattie's mother was too good for her poor father. It is revealed that her mother had 3 miscarriages, and passed from breast cancer. They talk about her neighbors, the Hubbards, and Ms. Wilcox (noting that she is consulting with a publishing company). Thye alsotalk about Mattie's ride with Royal, and that gets Aunt Josie started talking about engagements and rushing into things. Eventually Mattie works up the courage to ask her, being rich, for money to help her go to college, a loan, and is shot down and called selfish for wanting to leave when her family needed her.
