A Northern Light

This chapter occurs when Mattie works at the Glenmore.

Mattie is in the bed and wakes up the room while she is reading Grace's letters looking for answers. When they go back to sleep she takes them out again. Grace has not gotten a letter from Chester, and she is coming home next week unless Chester comes. Mattie uses Royal as a coverup and says the letters are from her for Ada. Grace tells Chester that she understands how he feels about the affair, and that she saiad no so many times, and then Mattie understands why she had to leave her position at a joband why she was sick, she was carrying Chester's baby. . .
